Hello,
Firstly, I very much appreciate the opportunity to pick your brains.
I was married in both the UK and Japan. We decided to divorce last summer after being separated (me moving back to the UK in May 2018),
It is amicable. One son lives with me, my other two children live with her. I own the house there and contribute to the mortgage.
Divorce in Japan is very simple. Stamp some forms, agree what you will do, fill them in and submit them. It is done. I'm not saying it's perfect, far from it, but simple it is.
Now for the UK. Will I need a translation of the Japanese divorce documents to proceed, or will this be separate? Do I proceed in a different way? I have no idea.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Lee
