Divorce - Unreasonable behaviour

Hi, can someone please give me some advice.....

i married my ex partner in October 2018, long before we married her behaviour was a nightmare at times.
she would cause arguments when i was going out, she constantly ring and message me (yet she went out i wouldn't hear from her for hours which was fine).
If i called in at my mums for a brew, she would ring me and ask to speak to my mum to see if i was.
She had serious trust issues towards me.
She had financial issues which i helped her out on more than once and several other reasons.
she was suppose to be getting help for her issues and we decided to go ahead with the marriage, only a few months in i ended the marriage as absolutely nothing changed and i told her i had fallen out of love with her.

we both lived in the same property for financial reasons and i was waiting for another flat to become available, i moved out in July 2018 and have asked her for a divorce which she agreed to, we have no real finances, kids or property. We was just going to apply to the courts.
I then got a message refusing to proceed with the divorce and has told my mum she will divorce me when she is good and ready not when i say so.

so can i still divorce her even though we haven't lived together for over a year? The whole relationship and marriage broke down because of her behaviour. I am told if she wanted to she can string this out for 5 years.

You probably mean July 2019 here? That's only 9 months.

You do not need your wife's permission or co-operation in order to have a divorce and she certainly cannot force you to wait five years unless you are foolish enough to go along with that. You will be able to have a divorce now. You do not have to wait. Having said that, if you are going to petition for divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour the circumstances are such that the divorce petition will need to be drafted with care. A competent solicitor should be able to do that without any problem. In these particular circumstances you would be unwise to try to do it yourself because if you trip up you could have to wait five years only because of a defect of drafting.
