My company wants to issue me shares/equity but I am in the middle of a divorce and interested to know at what point am I 'free' from this ongoing drama to make life decisions that won't be wrapped up into the divorce process?
Perhaps the obvious answer is when the divorce is final but what I'm fishing for is are there other key stages of the divorce where I am past these financial hurdles or other to where I can make such decisions...
For context we are set for a pFDR and have most all the finances on the table bar an Accountant to appropriately divide everything up and provide a complete view.
The hope would be once this is done we can make a deal or settle this matter and avoid a more lengthy process as it is two years now ongoing.
I do not want to lose out on the opportunity for share equity in the company but am also reluctant to push this agenda if it's going to further complicate the divorce.
Any advice is appreciated.
