Good evening everyone.
Just a quick question. Me and my wife got recently divorced (married in the UK) and submitted a consent order to have a clean break (short marriage, less than 5y, no mortgage, no kids and limited assets).
We are still waiting for the court’s approval, but according to my solicitor there shouldn’t be any issues as it seems fair.
My question is: does the court require any proof of sending a lump sum to the other party? What happens if 20 years later my ex decides to lie she hasn’t received any money? In the consent order the solicitor states I’m obliged to transfer the money within 14 days. Does that mean that after that period it’s all assumed to be done and dusted between us?
My solicitor takes ages to reply and for some reason can’t get hold of her. Please advise.
Kind regards,
Parker
